Livestock waste is rich in bio-degadable organic matter and this characteristic prohibits it from being recycled back into the environment without prior treatment. Due to the serious consequences of direct reintroduction, certain standards have been codified to ensure the safer management of these wastes. Thus, this paper seeks to examine the potential to produce biogas from a specific type of livestock waste. The innovative part of this study is the energy recovery of chicken manure as it has been found to contain a higher organic load against other types of livestock production waste. The combination of chicken manure with other animal wastes results to a significant increase of the production of biogas. This study aims to the determination of the appropriate ratios of chicken residues in mixtures with bovine waste in order to maximize the production of biogas. More specifically, the study of biogas production rate during anaerobic digestion of livestock production wastes in laboratory scale reactors, showed that the optimal percentage of chicken waste in the digester is 5%
