The necessity of improving performance and productivity has led to the pursuit of new methods and tools. Thus, the last few decades have been characterized by rapid developments in the field of information technology, and hence in the field of reservation systems. The development of the GDSs and the CRSs mainly aims to simplify bookings and tickets issuing and pricing. Online platforms introduce a new way of making reservations, removing intermediaries and linking the customer directly to the service provider. The travel agencies acquire a web-based status and thus re-establish their cooperation with the hoteliers. Hotel websites are evolving into an important marketing and sales tool, while the management of the above channels is nowadays a fundamental function of a hotel unit.
