Ανάλυση κύκλου ζωής πλαστικών διχτυών και πιθανότητες επαναχρησιμοποίησης σε περιβαλλοντικές φιλικές τεχνολογίες (Master thesis)

In recent years there has been growth in fishing and aquaculture (or fishing farming), two activities in which large volumes of plastic nets and gear are used. After their use, the disposal is uncontrolled. Unfortunately, in Greece there is no legislative framework or a management plan for the specific waste type. The life cycle analysis is the key part for the development of any type of management plan. In some countries there are good practices for their disposal and if they can be reused.
For this reason, this thesis, conducting online research with an emphasis on case studies, analyzes the life cycle of plastic fishing nets from their production to their end of life i.e. their disposal. The ways of rejecting them were also examined as its problems arise from it. Management practices used around the world and their recovery, recycling and reuse are analyzed. Finally, a plan is proposed for the management of plastic fishing nets in Greece after their disposal.

| Abstract: | Τα τελευταία χρόνια υπάρχει ανάπτυξη της αλιείας και της υδατοκαλλιέργειας, δυο δραστηριότητες στις οποίες χρησιμοποιούνται μεγάλοι όγκοι πλαστικών διχτυών και εργαλείων. Μετά τη χρήση τους, η απόρριψη τους είναι ανεξέλεγκτη. Δυστυχώς στην Ελλάδα δεν υπάρχει νομοθετικό πλαίσιο ή ένα διαχειριστικό πλάνο για τα συγκεκριμένα απόβλητα. Η ανάλυση του κύκλου ζωής αποτελεί το πρωταρχικό κομμάτι για την εξέλιξη οποιουδήποτε τύπου διαχειριστικού πλάνου. Σε ορισμένες χώρες υπάρχουν ορθές πρακτικές για την απόρριψη τους και περίπτωσης επαναχρησιμοποίησής τους.
Για τον λόγο αυτό, η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία, διεξάγοντας διαδικτυακή έρευνα με έμφαση σε μελέτες περίπτωσης, αναλύει τον κύκλο ζωής των πλαστικών αλιευτικών διχτυών από την παραγωγή τους μέχρι το τέλος ζωής τους δηλαδή την απόρριψή τους. Εξετάστηκαν επίσης οι τρόποι απόρριψης τους καθώς τα προβλήματα του προκύπτουν απ’ αυτήν. Αναλύονται οι πρακτικές διαχείρισης που χρησιμοποιούνται σε όλο τον κόσμο και η ανάκτηση, ανακύκλωση και επαναχρησιμοποίησή τους. Τέλος προτείνεται ένα σχέδιο για την διαχείριση των πλαστικών αλιευτικών διχτυών στην Ελλάδα μετά την απόρριψή τους.
