The present thesis addresses the issue of intercultural education and training provided by the Intercultural Schools of Greece in combination with the principles of the philosophy of Total Quality Management with the aim of satisfying the needs of students with different cultural, linguistic, religious and racial background. In particular, it explores the aspects and experiences of Primary Education teachers serving in Intercultural Schools of Western Thessaloniki on Intercultural Education in the modern educational system, as well as the application of Total Quality Management principles on multicultural caste with the aim of quality improvement and more effective education. In the first part of the thesis the topic is approached theoretically through the study of the relevant literature, while the second part presents the empirical research. Qualitative research was selected using an interview and based on the findings of the research, educational teachers are found to be aware of intercultural issues, apply principles of intercultural education and recognize the importance of students’ native language knowledge. They point out the difficulties they face due to bilingualism, the inadequacy of textbooks, the mono-cultural analytical curriculum and the dated legislative framework. Although not fully trained in the philosophy of Total Quality Management, they apply most of its principles informally and accept them. The majority of educational teachers believe that there will be an improvement in the educational process by applying the principles of TQM in Intercultural Schools.
