Introduction: Diabetes Type 1 diabetes is an increasing trend worldwide. To reduce its microvascular and macrovascular complications, glycemic control is required. For this reason the glucose control is important in school as children spend a lot of their time in school. Teachers are called upon to support the students with diabetes mellitus and to help them cope with their disease effectively. Purpose: To investigate the knowledge of primary school teachers about diabetes and the effect of a short training program in their attitude towards the disease. Materials and Methods: Teachers' knowledge was assessed using the Al Duraywish & Abdelsalam Nail Questionnaire, which was translated into Greek. The sample of the study consisted of primary school teachers from schools in the municipality of Kalamaria. Teachers were initially asked to complete the questionnaire. A brief training program on Diabetes Mellitus 1 was then followed. After that, participants were given the questionnaire again to determine if there was a change in their knowledge level after the intervention. Results: As shown by the research, training improved the percentage of teachers who know the symptoms of students with diabetes or hypoglycemia and improved their knowledge about the actions they need to take when a student has diabetes or hypoglycemia.
