Διερεύνηση των γνώσεων των εκπαιδευτικών Πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης σχετικά με τον σακχαρώδη διαβήτη τύπου 1 πριν και μετά από πρόγραμμα σύντομης εκπαίδευσης (Bachelor thesis)

Introduction: Diabetes Type 1 diabetes is an increasing trend worldwide. To reduce its
microvascular and macrovascular complications, glycemic control is required. For this reason
the glucose control is important in school as children spend a lot of their time in school.
Teachers are called upon to support the students with diabetes mellitus and to help them cope
with their disease effectively.
Purpose: To investigate the knowledge of primary school teachers about diabetes and
the effect of a short training program in their attitude towards the disease.
Materials and Methods: Teachers' knowledge was assessed using the Al Duraywish &
Abdelsalam Nail Questionnaire, which was translated into Greek. The sample of the study
consisted of primary school teachers from schools in the municipality of Kalamaria. Teachers
were initially asked to complete the questionnaire. A brief training program on Diabetes
Mellitus 1 was then followed. After that, participants were given the questionnaire again to
determine if there was a change in their knowledge level after the intervention.
Results: As shown by the research, training improved the percentage of teachers who
know the symptoms of students with diabetes or hypoglycemia and improved their knowledge
about the actions they need to take when a student has diabetes or hypoglycemia.

| Abstract: | Εισαγωγή: Ο σακχαρώδης διαβήτης τύπου 1 έχει αυξητικές τάσεις σε παγκόσμιο
επίπεδο. Για την μείωση των μικροαγγειακών και μακροαγγειακών επιπλοκών του χρειάζεται
ο καλός γλυκαιμικός έλεγχος. Γι’ αυτό το λόγο είναι σημαντικός ο έλεγχος της γλυκόζης στο
σχολείο, καθώς τα παιδιά περνούν μεγάλο μέρος της ζωής τους στο σχολείο. Οι εκπαιδευτικοί
καλούνται να στηρίξουν τον μαθητή με σακχαρώδη διαβήτη και να τον βοηθήσουν να
αντιμετωπίσει την ασθένειά του αποτελεσματικά.
Σκοπός: Η διερεύνηση των γνώσεων των εκπαιδευτικών της Πρωτοβάθμιας
εκπαίδευσης σχετικά με τον σακχαρώδη διαβήτη και η επίδρασή ενός σύντομου
προγράμματος εκπαίδευσης στην στάση τους απέναντι στην ασθένεια.
Υλικό και Μέθοδος: Η διερεύνηση των γνώσεων των εκπαιδευτικών έγινε με την
βοήθεια του ερωτηματολογίου των Al Duraywish & Abdelsalam Nail, το οποίο
μεταφράστηκεκαι σταθμίστηκε στην ελληνική γλώσσα. Το δείγμα της μελέτης αποτέλεσαν
εκπαιδευτικοί της πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης από σχολεία του δήμου Καλαμαριάς. Οι
εκπαιδευτικοί κλήθηκαν αρχικά να συμπληρώσουν το ερωτηματολόγιο, στη συνέχεια
ακολούθησε σύντομο πρόγραμμα επιμόρφωσης σε θέματα σχετικά με τον ΣΔ 1 και στη
συνέχεια δόθηκε ξανά το ερωτηματολόγιο στους συμμετέχοντες για να διαπιστωθεί αν υπήρχε
αλλαγή στο επίπεδο των γνώσεών τους μετά την παρέμβαση.
Αποτελέσματα: Όπως φάνηκε από την έρευνα η επιμόρφωση βελτίωσε το ποσοστό των
καθηγητών που γνωρίζουν την συμπτωματολογία μαθητών με διαβήτη ή υπογλυκαιμία και
βελτίωσε τις γνώσεις τους σχετικά με τις ενέργειες που πρέπει να κάνουν όταν ένας μαθητής
έχει διαβήτη ή παρουσιάσει υπογλυκαιμία.
Συμπεράσματα: Οι δάσκαλοι παίζουν σημαντικό ρόλο στην καθημερινή ζωή του
παιδιού. Διαμέσου της επιμόρφωσης οι εκπαιδευτικοί θα αποκτήσουν τις απαραίτητες γνώσεις
και δεξιότητες ώστε να μπορούν να βοηθήσουν τα παιδιά με σακχαρώδη διαβήτη και τις
