Introduction: Allergic proctocolitis (AP) is a benign inflammation called colitis and is characterized by the appearance of rectal bleeding, primarily affecting breastfeeding infants and is related to the mother’s diet. The treatment, usually, is the exclusion of the allergens from a mother’s diet. The most common allergen is cow’s milk. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the mother’s dietary habits whose child had AP during pregnancy and breastfeeding to analyze relevant predisposing factors. Methodology: A total of 60 mothers participated in the study. After calling all the participants, the mothers, were informed about the study and the protocol and they completed the FFQ during the period of their pregnancy and breastfeeding. Results: The main allergen in this study is the cow’s milk (73,3%) following eggs (63,3%) and nuts (53,3%). The gender, the age and the month that the infants start to eat solid food were not found to affect the appearance of AP. Generally, the eating habits of the mothers during pregnancy and breastfeeding also, were different in many parts but without a statistically significance in total. Conclusions: Despite the fact that the mother’s eating habits weren’t statistically significant in total, in some parts there were differences. For example, in certain food lists and in some supplements during breastfeeding.
