Adult vocational education and training, which is part of the wider context of lifelong learning, is a growing field both internationally and in Greece, contributing to the professional upgrading and job mobility of graduates. The relatively recent legislation introduced in the country for reforming secondary and post-secondary education and for framing the field of lifelong learning attempts to achieve a better link between vocational training and employment. However, given the recessionary environment of the Greek economy, the deindustrialisation that has occurred over the past decade and other chronic pathogens of the domestic economy and the labor market, this link remains ineffective. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the relationship between vocational education and adult training and vocational rehabilitation by examining the views of the trainees in the respective programs. The survey involved 92 trainees at IEK, who were asked to fill out a questionnaire of 20 questions. According to the research results, it has been found that IEK trainees, the majority of whom are unemployed, do not consider their training will help them to re-enter the labor market, while an important finding of the study concerns the limited relevance of the training content and the job position for existing workers. It is therefore necessary to further regulate the framework governing vocational education and training in Greece, with a view to balancing the required labor market and curriculum qualifications in the light of the alignment between training and employment.
