In this paper we are studying an important issue that has to do with the field of special education and the field of education generally. This is an issue of particular interest because it relates to children with special needs and therefore has social implications. The aim of the thesis is to examine issues related to the organization and operation of modern primary and secondary education specialty schools, to study the role of the directors and to clarify the importance of leadership. In other words, the aim of the work is to make a theoretical approach to education, to identify actions and manipulations taking place in special primary schools and to identify points that can make the operation of the school unit and the educational process more efficient and effective. Secondly, the aim is to look at parental involvement as a key factor in school life, to study the role of parents in the administration of education and to understand the importance of developing relationships between teachers and parents about the development of children. The work was done within the framework of the needs of the Alexandrio Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki. The theoretical framework of the work was structured on the basis of information gathered from international bibliography, while the research section relied on questionnaires that were given for completion to primary and secondary education teachers.
