This work highlights the role of teachers in the evaluation process of their students. Evaluation is inherent in everyday routines, and could not fail to be an important parameter of the learning process. This work aims to record the level of training and updating of teachers in relation to the modern evaluation techniques, every day evaluation practices that follow, as well as the factors that influence them in the evaluation process of their students. In order to reach the goal, conceptual approach to conceptual concepts such as student assessment and its basic principles, pupil performance and role in school daily routine is initially conceptualized. The factors influencing students' performance as well as the forms and techniques of traditional and modern assessment are recorded. The survey was attended by 180 secondary school teachers who completed the questionnaire they received electronically, containing questions-structured proposals according to the continuous scale of Likert-type intervals. The results showed that teachers, although they have not attended an assessment course at universities, are trained at a satisfactory rate. To a large extent, they consider that evaluation is useful in many aspects of the learning process, and almost all of them consider that traditional forms of assessment cannot provide the elements that are necessary for teachers to be objective and fair in their pupils' assessment. It also emerges from the results that, although a percentage of teachers have used alternative assessment techniques, they believe that changing curricula and teaching methods will contribute to the widespread use of alternative techniques. Finally, they seem to be influenced by factors that are related to creativity, critical ability, behavior, and student interest, and are not particularly influenced by social factors that affect their students' environment.
