Education of every kind and species is now recognized globally as a means of improving a person's life, which has positive effects not only on the person himself but also on society and promotes the participation of citizens in the contemporary socio-economic reality. The purpose of this paper is to present the role of education and training of the human resources of the Greek public administration as it arises from the theoretical overview. The concept of education in public organizations focuses mainly on improving the knowledge and skills of employees and is a key priority for the modernization of public administration and the services it offers to the community. Methodologically, a collection of secondary and primary data, as derived from bibliographic research, the official websites of Greek educational institutions and surveys of other colleagues, was carried out in order to achieve the aim of the work. Also, the case study of a public body, Secondary Local Government, of the Region of Central Macedonia, is presented regarding the educational policy it applies for the training of human resources. The main findings of the research show that it is becoming increasingly clear today that in order to develop the human potential and thus improve the image and performance of the Greek public administration, quality education must be offered, continuous and lasting. One of the very positive findings of the survey is the finding that human resources are searching for and requiring their continuous training. Today, in the context of modern Public Administration within the e-government environment, human resources need to be upgraded through continuous education and training, improving materials and intangible infrastructure, introducing new management methods for efficiency and efficiency.
