Απόψεις των εκπαιδευτικών για την εκπαίδευση των παιδιών με αυτισμό στο συμβατικό σχολείο. (Master thesis)

The subject of this paper is the education of children with autism in a normal school and in specific in Secondary Education. This thesis consists of a theoretical and a research part. In the theoretical part, the views and beliefs of general education teachers on inclusion were formulated. In addition, teachers’ views on the roles and tasks of general and special education teachers were analyzed. The phenomenon of autism was analyzed and the difficulties and deficits of children with autism were examined. In the research section teachers were interviewed using semi structured questionnaires and their attitudes towards the education of children with autism were investigated. The results of the survey showed that the attitudes of the teachers towards inclusive education were positive, provided that there was support from qualified staff in the classroom or that the autistic students 4 participated in special integrational classes. The results also showed the need to train general education teachers for better classroom management and the successful inclusion of all students. In addition, the difficulties arising from the inclusion of all pupils were highlighted and the need for changes in the structure of the educational system was expressed in order for students with disadvantages to attend a regular school.
