Tourism marketing is a system of production and distribution of profit of products demanded in the market. Therefore it is understandable that tourism distribution channels are an important part of tourism marketing and it is important to analyze them as they play an important role in the tourism sector. The purpose of this paper is to shed light to the complex distribution channels in tourism. For this purpose, initially some definitions will be provided and an analysis of key terms used to describe the distribution channels in tourism. Then the mechanism of distribution channels in tourism is presented, while giving details on the parts of the distribution channels in tourism and their interrelationships. To better understand the above case studies of three geographical areas are presented, Europe, Australia and Canada. Finally an analysis of the role of technology and the Internet in various distribution channels of tourism and future trends are presented by area of effect.
