ABSTRACT Investigations for the causes of accidents lead to the conclusion that accidents are caused, to a large extent, by the human factor. They happen due to the human potential of each grade, from engineers and other scientists to simple workers of a simple or complex construction. Accidents do not happen at random, but they are caused and there are always one or more factors that caused them. Prevention and avoidance of accidents are within the capabilities of human control. The dangers posed to school units may be the same as in any other workplace. However, in the field of education there are not only teachers, but also students. These people are vulnerable, because of their young age, unskilled and often ignore the factors that threaten health and safety. Students can also be dangerous for themselves. A major problem that concerns all teachers is the creation of physical injuries or, health problems to children. This has become very important in the school environment, where due to the large number of pupils, their young age and the particular circumstances prevailing (for example, technical specialty laboratories in high-risk technical training, people with disabilities etc .), guarding and protecting the children (students) from teachers becomes very difficult. The aim of this effort is, on a theoretical level, to inform and educate the educational staff on the safety and hygiene of the laboratory environment (building facilities) and on the other hand, to support actions with students in order to improve the quality of the school lab environment, the reduction of the health threats and safety risks of the school community members, and the assimilation of security measures in their future work environment. At the research level, the purpose of the research is to record the working environment and the working conditions of vocational education schools in the prefecture of Boeotia. The purpose of the theoretical field takes place through the bibliographic review, while through primary research are covered the purpose and the specific objectives of the research field. The quantitative survey carried out using a questionnaire showed that the specifications for the proper operation of the laboratory units in hygiene and safety are sometimes considered good and sometimes moderate by the teachers.
