Ο ρόλος του Front Office Manager σε μεγάλες ξενοδοχειακές μονάδες (Bachelor thesis)

Abstract The aim of this thesis is to investigate the role of Front Office Manager (FOM) in major hotels. The need to investigate arises from the fact that that person is the "face" of the hotel, as ever socialize with customers, and coordinate different parts of the hotel together. It could be argued that the FOM is the person who mans one of the 'key-positions' in the hotel. The method of approach used for this study is the literature research in Greek and international literature in order to clarify the role and tasks of the Front Office Manager at major hotels. This thesis analyzes the Front Office Manager duties’, which include the management of bookings (arrivals, departures), customer reception and settlement of rooms, managing customer complaints, registration of customers and updating of the files, monitoring and payment of bills , managing correspondence and call center and start preparing and closing of the tourist season. Also, other powers are the night audit, coordination between the various departments of the hotel and the training of reception staff. It also describes the operation of Property Management Systems (PMS), and the characteristics, functional and decorative, to distinguish the space of reception in every major hotel. In conclusion, we can say that the Front Office Manager is one of the main administrative jobs in a hotel for two main reasons. First he is the responsible for the employees of the Department of Host who are in direct and daily contact with hotel guests and must serve them in the best possible way and on the other hand, is largely primarily responsible for proper communication and cooperation with the other parts of the hotel.
