The aluminum industry is one of the most important and strongest
manufacturing sectors within the Greek economy. Aluminium is a metal that
has great advantages and qualities that makes it extremely popular in a
variety of applications. In Greece, huge quantities of bauxite deposits have
triggered the sector becoming verticalized with enormous economic and
industrial development. Extremely important role for this development is
played by the construction of the aluminium factory (Aluminium of Greece),
which since the 1960s has been the most important factor in this vertically
integrated sector.
In the first chapter of the paper we will refer to the basic properties and
characteristics of aluminium. Its multiple applications and uses will be
highlighted, as well as the main characteristics of the sector in Greece. This
industry employs thousands of employees and thousands of businesses and
is an important part of the Greek economy and exports.
In the second chapter, an extensive reference will be made to the Aluminium
factory in Greece. A historical review will be carried out, an overview of
production processes will be highlighted and production capacities and
procedures will be commented. It will also refer to the productive, economic
and social offer of the factory -as well as- its overall added value.
The third chapter will outline the main conclusions and comments

| Abstract: | Ο κλάδος του αλουμινίου είναι ένας από τους σημαντικότερους και
ισχυρότερους παραγωγικούς κλάδους στην ελληνική οικονομία. Το αλουμίνιο
αποτελεί ένα μέταλλο το οποίο έχει εξαιρετικά πλεονεκτήματα και ιδιότητες
που το καθιστούν εξαιρετικά δημοφιλές σε πληθώρα εφαρμογών. Στην
Ελλάδα οι τεράστιες ποσότητες κοιτασμάτων βωξίτη έδωσαν το έναυσμα
ώστε να καθετοποιηθεί ο κλάδος και να γνωρίσει τεράστια οικονομική και
βιομηχανική ανάπτυξη. Εξαιρετικά σημαντικό ρόλο για αυτή την ανάπτυξη
παίζει η κατασκευή του εργοστασίου του Αλουμινίου της Ελλάδος που από
την δεκαετία του 1960 είναι το σημαντικότερο γρανάζι στον καθετοποιημένο
αυτό κλάδο.
Στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο της εργασίας θα γίνει αναφορά στις βασικές ιδιότητες και
χαρακτηριστικά του αλουμινίου. Θα υπογραμμιστούν οι πολλαπλές
εφαρμογές του και οι χρήσεις του καθώς και τα χαρακτηριστικά του κλάδου
στην Ελλάδα. Ο συγκεκριμένος κλάδος απασχολεί χιλιάδες εργαζόμενους σε
χιλιάδες επιχειρήσεις και αποτελεί σημαντικό πλουτοπαραγωγικό κομμάτι της
οικονομίας και των εξαγωγών.
Στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο θα γίνει εκτενής αναφορά στο εργοστάσιο του
Αλουμινίου της Ελλάδος. Θα γίνει ιστορική αναδρομή, θα γίνει επισκόπηση
των παραγωγικών διαδικασιών και θα υπογραμμιστούν οι παραγωγικές
δυνατότητες και οι διαδικασίες. Επίσης θα γίνει αναφορά στην παραγωγική,
στην οικονομική και κοινωνική προσφορά του εργοστασίου καθώς και στην
γενικότερη προστιθέμενη αξία που προσφέρει.
