Γονεϊκή εμπλοκή στο σχολείο και νέες τεχνολογίες (Master thesis)

Μιχαηλίδου, Ελευθερία

Families, schools and communities contribute in unique and complementary ways to a child’s learning process. Parents who take on a supportive role in their children's education play an important role in improving their achievement and behavior. Moreover, modern technological means offer ample opportunities towards enhancing parental involvement in their children’s education. The present study collected information by means of a questionnaire concerning the parents’ access to and acquaintance with various technological means, the degree and ways in which they participate in their children’s education, as well as the technological means they use when communicating with school personnel. The participants included parents whose children attend primary and secondary schools around Greece. The results indicate that Greek parents have access to the internet and to various means of technology and are well acquainted with their use. However, the present study concluded that despite the fact that almost all the participants of the sample use the internet, smart phones and other modern devices, they still become involved in their children’s education in more traditional ways, and there is no evidence of an interactive relationship between them and the school personnel
