Δούρου, Κωνσταντίνα

Many studies have stressed that parental involvement is important to students, as their school achievement or behavior get improved at the school ( Epstein , 2007 ) parents and school as well ( Epstein , 2007 ) . Particularly, literature shows that parental involvement is affected by many factors, which are associated either with parents or teachers or even children. Many times, one observes that the role and the action of school leadership is crucial in enhancing the involvement of parents and sometimes not . One of the tasks of school leaders is also to strengthen the role of parents in school issues that may arise ( Igo, 2002 ) . It is worth noting that there are many kinds of leadership, others that strengthen and others prevent parental involvement. The literature shows that few studies have studied how parental involvement shapes or influences the leadership style in primary schools . It is noted that the leadership styles that advocate these democratic processes and push the active action of parents ( Mncube & Naidoo , 2014 ) and not those characterized by centralization . At the same time , the aim of this paper is to investigate whether parental involvement contributes to shaping the leadership style in Primary schools and, in particular, to study the case of the Municipality of Lamia . In addition , the frequency of parental involvement and the type of leadership prevailing are explored in primary schools . At the same time , quantitative research was carried out using the questionnaire to examine the queries of the research . Finally, research shows that there is a significant correlation of parental involvement with both main types of leadership, but rather with the distributed one. It is also noted that teachers feel that parental involvement does not exist on a frequent basis and, when it exists, is not very effective . However , they themselves reinforce it , in particular by seeking to communicate with parents and encouraging them to take part in decision-making , as the director or the school counselor has suggested
