Περιγράφονται οι φυσικοί μηχανισμοί άμυνας του δέρματος και οι βλαπτικές επιδράσεις της ηλιακής ακτινοβολίας στον οργανισμό. Ακολούθως, γίνεται λόγος για τη διάγνωση χρόνιων συνεπειών των ηλιακών ακτινών και τις νόσους που επιδεινώνονται από αυτές.
