The following dissertation has as its subject the complete organization of the Municipal Library «Charalampos Lysaridis» of Sindos. Specifically, it is about the organization of its printed material, the books which are mainly literary. The practices that used to accomplish this project, were the archiving works, the classification, the cataloging of books , as well as their import to the automated Koha system. Then, they are presented in detail, the procedures and steps taken, as well as, some basic information about the Koha system, the Dewey decimal classification system as well as the Z39.50 system information retrieval protocol. In addition, are recorded coded in Marc21 format all the records, and the index of titles and the index of authors are also listed. Finally, in the context of this work, the role of municipal libraries is explained, some general information about the specific library and its material are mentioned, while at the same time the importance of this practical process is pointed out for the development of the current organizational skills of the librarian in the future.
