Μηχανισμός ελέγχου διάρκειας ζωής κομβίων (Master thesis)

Ζωηρός, Πέτρος

This master thesis deals with the lifetime of buttons. The buttons of the biggest manufacturing giants have certifications for more than one million presses, but the practice proves that the real number is always an aliquot part of it. The noticeable difference of this control mechanism that has been designed and developed is that the pneumatic piston that will “press” and activate the button will not press only at one point each time as it does in respective systems, but will make it constantly moving on the axles x and y so as to achieve an uneven distribution of the pressures exerted each time. This method increases their failure rate in practice after just a few thousand clicks, reflecting reality rather than a simple laboratory test. The construction of the mechanism has been achieved using a CNC, while a pneumatic piston was selected for the push of the button. The movement of the piston on the x, y axes with them is carried out with the help of CNC stepper motors. The control of the complete mechanism is achieved with a specially built program in C #, as well as recording and visualizing the results using a SQL server. The main pillar of the implementation of this project is to keep the costs of development and maintenance at very low levels to meet the current reality of continuous price increases.
