The purpose of the present project is the analysis of cellulite and the methods that contribute to its prevention or elimination. The definition of cellulite refers to the dissimilar fat deposition in the subcutaneous tissue, which has as an outcome the swelling of the fat cells and the characteristic ''orange peel'' appearance. The pathogenesis of cellulite varies. There are many factors that contribute to the cellulite development or aggravate the already existing like, the poor blood and lymphatic circulation, hormonal disorders, heredity, gender, constipation and intense stress. Also, poor nutrition and the lack of physical exercise contribute to the appearance of cellulite. The knowledge of the evolutionary stages and the various forms of cellulite is very important, in order to make a proper diagnosis. The proper diagnosis of the degree of cellulite growth is crucial, as it reveals the criteria for selecting the appropriate treatment method in each case. The more advanced the stage of cellulite is, the more difficult is its treatment. Through body aesthetics, cellulite is sufficiently combated when it is in early stages. The aesthetics offers a range of different methods, some of which are endermology, radiofrequency, iontophoresis, thalassotherapy and manual lymphatic massage. Of course, the contraindications of each therapy should not be overlooked in any case. The medical treatment of cellulite intervenes in its most advanced stages. Medical science is able to apply various invasive or non invasive methods to eliminate even the most difficult to treat cellulite. For example, the injectable body mesotherapy and the method Cellfina are considered as two of the most effective treatments against cellulite. Finally, through proper nutrition choices and physical activity, cellulite can be prevented and improved, especially when it is at an early stage. On the one hand, a diet, which is rich in nutrients and antioxidants, helps to the proper nourish of the cells and fights free radicals that harm the body. On the other hand, physical activity stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation.
