Γάκη, Ραφαηλία Μαρία

My senior thesis is a bibliographic review referring to neurodynamic assessment on the lumbar spine. I found this study interesting because it is an important part of physical evaluation in patients with lumbar spine problems. The purpose of my thesis is to collect and classify contemporary scientific information on the subject and to obtain more general and specified knowledge about neurodynamical tests in the lumbar spine. Furthermore, the validity and sensitivity of each test is analyzed, as it aims to reproduce the symptomatology of each patient. The content of my thesis is divided into three parts: The general section, which includes the introduction of the subject, as well as references from various studies. Additionally, it describes the process of neurodynamic assessment. There is also talk about the lumbar spine and in particular the definition and the anatomy of lumbar spine. Finally, observation and examination of the lumbar spine are included. The special section analyzes the neurodynamic tests in the lumbar spine. More specifically, the purpose of each neurodynamic test, its methodology and its documentation is described. In addition, the specificity and sensitivity of each neurodynamic assessment test is discussed in this section. Finally, regarding the stage of treatment, a clinical reasoning for the physical rehabilitation of each patient is described, with regard to the methods and means, which are appropriate for each patient, after a proper assessment.
