Η αντίληψη και η στάση των εκπαιδευτικών δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης Νομού Πιερίας απέναντι στο ζήτημα του σχολικού εκφοβισμού (Bachelor thesis)

School bullying has already been recognized as a serious social and educational issue and is of particular concern to the scientific and educational community. The way teachers perceive and understand the concept and dimensions of school bullying in order to play a leading role in its containment and eradication is crucial. The present study investigates the Secondary school teachers’ perceptions and attitudes regarding the issue of school violence and bullying. The ultimate purpose of the survey is to trace and demonstrate the significance of the views and attitudes of the educational community towards the phenomenon of school bullying, as the role of the teacher is key to preventing, dealing with and managing incidents of aggression and violence in the school environment. Ten secondary school teachers serving in Gymnasiums and High Schools of the Prefecture of Pieria participated in the survey. The qualitative approach was chosen as the research method and the research tool was the individual, semi-structured interview, while the data were processed using the method of Content Analysis. According to the results of the survey, teachers are mostly aware of the issue of bullying, recognize and understand the importance of their role and attitude, but emphasize the lack of further uninterrupted, systematic and meaningful training and education. They also support the need for a unified collective action framework through the mobilization and co-operation of all involved members, directors, headmasters, teachers as well as students, parents, and the wider community.
