Ανάπτυξη της οικολογικής συνείδησης των μαθητών με στόχο την περιβαλλοντική εκπαίδευση στο νομό Χαλκιδικής (Bachelor thesis)

Introduction: Environmental education is now seen as a tool and process that allows participation and learning by people of all ages, based on two-way communication rather than the old way of a one-way flow of information from teachers to students. Purpose: The aim of the research is to ascertain whether the schools of Halkidiki, and more specifically their teachers, contribute to the students' awareness of the relationship of man with his natural and social environment, to become aware of the problems associated with it and to to engage in specific programs to contribute to the overall effort to tackle them. Methodology: A questionnaire addressed to teachers was created within the framework of this thesis. The questionnaire contains 28 multiple choice questions, yes / no and likert scale, divided into two parts, personal data and questions about environmental education. The questionnaire was distributed to teachers of various specialties in the prefecture of Halkidiki. Results: Most of the participants consider to a large extent that EE is a tool and a way for solving environmental problems (48.5%) and they believe that environmental education serves the sensitization of environmental problems (52.4%). The majority of participants would have a positive attitude towards environmental education (90.3%) and believes that the appropriate choice of open spaces for teaching Environmental Programs plays a major role in the results of the EE (97.1%). Conclusions: Most teachers are aware of what environmental education and its aims are and consider that training in environmental education is very necessary for an educator. In addition, about half of the participants would attend a training program in environmental education while assessing the adequacy of their knowledge of environmental education moderately. Finally, almost all participants consider that the appropriate choice of open spaces for the teaching of Environmental Programs plays a major role in the results of the environmental education and the awakening of students.
