Ο ρόλος του νοσηλευτή στην αντιμετώπιση του σοβαρού οξέως αναπνευστικού συνδρόμου (SARS) (Bachelor thesis)

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) has emerged from China as an inappropriate and rapidly transmitting respiratory disease with unknown etiology at the time of its occurrence. The World Health Organization has responded by invoking traditional public health measures and advanced technologies to control disease and contain the cause. A new coronavirus is responsible for the disease with all of its genome identified in mid-April 2003. The urgency of responding to this threat focused on scientific effort and stimulated global cooperation. The present paper, through a bibliographic review, focuses on the first application of the accumulation of knowledge and global cooperation to a twenty-first century pandemic threat and on the other hand synthesizes the lessons learned from this remarkable achievement and highlights the importance of nursing staff.

| Abstract: | Το σοβαρό οξύ αναπνευστικό σύνδρομο (SARS) προέκυψε από την Κίνα ως μια ακατάλληλη και ταχέως μεταδιδόμενη ασθένεια του αναπνευστικού συστήματος με άγνωστη αιτιολογία την εποχή της εμφάνισης. Ο Παγκόσμιος Οργανισμός Υγείας ανταποκρίθηκε επικαλούμενος παραδοσιακά μέτρα δημόσιας υγείας και προηγμένες τεχνολογίες για τον έλεγχο της ασθένειας και για τον περιορισμό της αιτίας. Ένας νέος κορωναϊός είναι υπεύθυνος για την ασθένεια με το σύνολο του γονιδιώματός του να προσδιορίζεται στα μέσα του Απριλίου του 2003. Ο επείγων χαρακτήρας της αντιμετώπισης αυτής της απειλής επικεντρώθηκε στην επιστημονική προσπάθεια και τόνωσε την παγκόσμια συνεργασία. Η παρούσα εργασία, μέσα από τη βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση, εστιάζει αφενός στην πραγματική εφαρμογή της συσσώρευσης γνώσεων και της παγκόσμιας συνεργασίας σε μια πανδημική απειλή του εικοστού πρώτου αιώνα και αφετέρου συνθέτει τα διδάγματα από αυτό το αξιοσημείωτο επίτευγμα και τονίζει τη σημαντικότητα του νοσηλευτικού προσωπικού.
