Διοίκηση εκπαιδευτικών οργανισμών στον τομέα της μεταδευτεροβάθμιας τεχνικής εκπαίδευσης. Η περίπτωση των ΔΙΕΚ (Master thesis)

In our days, we have an increasing number of teachers who are looking for answers about the qualifications that the successful director of a school unit should have. These requirements are more demanding in post-secondary education structures, and specifically in Public Vocational Training Institutes (PVTIs), which are not typical school units. Their administrative and educational staff is subject to changes at regular periods and as trainees are adults, they require different behavior. These units are considered an informal form of education, a fact that expands the demands of school leaders. In this study, references were made to basic procedures and qualifications for the selection of directors, deputy directors and administrative staff of the PVTIs, as well as to all the organizing and programming functions of the latter. Then, other educational systems were presented (France, Germany and the United States), in order to compare and clarify in which level PVTI should belong. The short cycle of tertiary education seems to be the most suitable level for their introduction, with a two-year curriculum and the choice of an educational continuation of the trainees at university, under specific conditions. This would solve chronic problems in PVTIs management. According to the research that has taken place in this study, besides a master in administration of education units or in the educational leadership, certification in adult education is required. Of course, administrative and educational experience at the PVTI level is also necessary. Consequently, current directors coming mainly from First and Secondary Educational Levels should be provided with the above additional qualifications and their extensions, in order to be able to claim managerial positions in the PVTI.
