"We are what we eat" could not be more relevant than in today’s world. During the information age, consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the proper diet they should follow, as well as the different ways their daily habits affect the health and looks of their bodies. Beautiful and radiant skin is an extension of body health and has been admired for centuries by societies. Tons of ink have been spilled and a huge number of advertisements have been created over products that promise spectacular results, although many of them ignore the simplest and most important component in maintaining skin health, nutrition. Indeed, the scientific community's turn to examine further this relationship is relatively recent, with no clear evidence of a strong link between them. However, it remains clear that a nutrient-rich diet has effective results on skin health and the prevention of related diseases. In the present thesis, an attempt is made to study existing articles, bibliography and online sources in order to identify the major dietary groups and foods that affect skin health.
