E-commerce and the advantages and disadvantages of e-banking (Bachelor thesis)

Ζαγανίδης, Χρήστος

It is commonly accepted that in recent years there has been an electronic revolution in banking transactions. Almost everything is bought and sold over the internet from one garment to a plane. Of course banks would not be missing out on these deals that naturally increasingly offer their services through Internet. Electronic Banking (e-banking) has attracted great bankers, other economic agents, entrepreneurs, analysts, and the press all over the world. In part this is due to rapid and significant growth of Electronic Commerce as well as the fact that electronic transactions and payments are an integral part of it. It is also the opinion of many analysts, according to which e-banking will have a positive impact on profitability, in the development of the banking sector and in their better service customers. However, this new way of trading has not penetrated spectacularly to consumers at present, at least. Several reservations are expressed both by consumers and by banks, in some cases. The prospects for e-banking are undoubtedly great, once the consumer gets fully familiar with the new channels of communication. But what are electronic transactions? Where and how did they start? How safe are they? How easy can consumers be trusted with? How useful are they? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
