Βουλγαρίδης, Στέφανος

Living in a contemporary society, internet’s presence in all areas of human activity is indisputable. Millions of users use it in both personal and professional aspects of their lives for communication, entertainment, social networking, commerce, trading and generally meeting their needs. The purpose of this dissertation is to investigate the public primary education teachers in our country in terms of active citizenship and law diffusion. The type of research carried out can be characterized by the scientific purpose pursued as descriptive, by the type of empirical data collected as quantitative and by the number of subjects examined as sampling. The instrument for collecting the research data was the psychometric tool of the questionnaire. The research questions, they formulated the questionnaire’s individual thematic categories, concern the definition of teachers' relationship to the Internet, their role as a source of legislative information, the use and dissemination of such information by teachers themselves, and the concept of active citizen. The research subjects were 178 active primary education teachers in Xanthi and Dodecanese districts. Results show that although most teachers spend a lot of time using the internet, they do not appear to be digitally active citizens, but satisfy others needs such as entertainment, communication, searching for educational material, etc. Unfortunately, they do not take advantage of the web as a tool to extract and disseminate legal information, while remaining uninformed and uninvolved.
