Μεταβλητός χρονισμός VANOS της BMW (Bachelor thesis)

Αλβανόπουλος, Ιωάννης/ Τζιοβάρας, Γεώργιος

Observing the operation of an internal combustion engine, the synchronized movement of its mechanical parts is observed. The engine is divided into two basic groups of directly connected components, the first consisting of the crankshaft and the pistons and the second of the camshafts and valves. Each group individually works in sync. The secret to smooth engine operation is to move both groups synchronously. This called engine timing, either with a belt or with a chain, we achieve the harmonious movement of the mechanical parts. As engine speeds increase engine needs change as they cause problems. The solution was provided with Variable Valve Timing systems (VVT).
