Η Συμβολή Των Αερομεταφορών Στον Τουρισμό The Contribution of Air Transport to Tourism (Bachelor thesis)

The purpose of this Dissertation is to investigate the evolution of passenger air traffic from 2005 to 2018 and the contribution of air carriers to the economy and tourism. The research methodology is based on quantitative analysis with a collection of secondary data and a diagrammatic representation. Data is derived from reliable statistical databases such as the World Bank, the World Tourism Organization, Eurostat, IATA, and others.
The Dissertation concludes that the reduction of airfreight costs leads to increased accessibility for new destinations. In this sense, the existence of airports or hubs in a region contributes to the increase of the region's competitiveness and support of its economic, social, and cultural development. Finally, governments and policy makers are required to take a strategic direction to consider the complexity of the relationship between air transport and tourism.

| Abstract: | Σκοπός της παρούσας Διπλωματικής είναι η διερεύνηση της εξέλιξης της επιβατικής κίνησης των αερομεταφορών από το 2005 έως το 2018 και της συμβολή των αερομεταφορών στην οικονομία και τον τουρισμό. Η μεθοδολογία της έρευνας προβλέπει ποσοτική ανάλυση με συλλογή δευτερογενών δεδομένων με διαγραμματική απεικόνιση. Τα δεδομένα αντλούνται από αξιόπιστες στατιστικές βάσεις δεδομένων όπως η Παγκόσμια Τράπεζα, ο Διεθνής Οργανισμός Τουρισμού, η Eurostat, η IATA, και άλλες.
Η Διπλωματική συμπεραίνει ότι η μείωση του κόστους αερομεταφοράς οδηγεί σε αύξηση της προσβασιμότητας νέων προορισμών. Υπό αυτήν την έννοια, η ύπαρξη αερολιμένων ή κόμβων σε μία περιοχή συμβάλλει στην αύξηση της ανταγωνιστικότητας της περιοχής και στη στήριξη της οικονομικής, κοινωνικής και πολιτιστικής της ανάπτυξης. Τέλος, απαιτείται από τις κυβερνήσεις και τους υπεύθυνους χάραξης πολιτικής μία στρατηγική κατεύθυνση που να λαμβάνει υπόψιν τη πολυπλοκότητα της σχέσης μεταξύ των αερομεταφορών και του τουρισμού.
