The postgraduate research which is titled The role of the School Unit Principal in developing a climate of co-operation with parents aims at exploring the practices used by primary school principals in Greece to encourage parents' involvement and examine whether there exist differences in these practices based on the gender of the principal, the level of his / her degree level and the years of his / her stay in a managerial position. A literature review was carried out for the study, followed by a survey with the sending of electronic questionnaires to the Directors of primary schools of Preveza, Arta and Aitoloakarnania and the analysis of these data on a quantitative and interpretative level. The survey revealed that the principals communicate with parents about their involvement in school activities, but they are negative to the active engagement of parents on issues related to school management. In addition, the results show that in some cases gender, level of degree, and years in managerial position by principals influence the way and the frequency of parental involvement.
