(Master thesis)

This paper analyzes the negative effects of arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury on feed, the importance of the chemical form in which metals can be found, and whether this infection is transmitted to the animals that consume them. Reference is also made to the transport of these metals to humans through the animal products they consume and their health effects. Heavy metals are widely found in the environment and they are of natural geological origin or the result of industrial activity and air pollution. Some heavy metals, especially arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury, are potentially hazardous due to their inherent or selective toxicity, especially in the context of the environment. Minerals, unlike most toxic organic compounds, do not degrade and therefore accumulate in the environment. The findings of many studies on the contamination of feed with heavy metals have highlighted the urgent need to carry out more and more inspections of both raw materials and finished feed products so that they do not exceed the permissible limits. In conclusion, it turns out that heavy metals cause particular problems in the food chain and therefore endanger the health of animals and humans through the consumption of contaminated animal products.
