Ερευνα για την αξιοποίηση των τεχνολογιών πληροφορίας και επικοινωνιών από τους εκπαιδευτικούς της δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης του Νομού Ιωάννινων (Master thesis)

The purpose of this work was the investigation of the use of Information and Communication Technologies by teachers who teach in the school units of secondary education of Ioannina’s Prefecture. Through the participation of 139 teachers from different subjects on the internet filling out a relevant questionnaire dealt with issues such as: the availability of and access to logistical equipment, the rate of use of available ICT, the type of activities in which ICT are used, the type of learning and teaching material used by teachers, key factors that negatively affect the use of ICT, the participation of teachers in training activities for ICT in teaching, as well as teachers’ views and attitudes on ICT during teaching and more generally within the school unit. The questionnaire data was collected in the penultimate two months of 2018. Many of the research results are in line with those of the latest European Schoolnet research. Among the most important conclusions of the research are the following: there is a failure of adequate logistical equipment for the use of ICT which is the most negative factor for using ICT in teaching and learning, there is a greater tendency in ICT utilization, teachers of Theoretical Courses create often their own digital material due to a possible lack of ready relevant material and consult more material from the school network and the school databases while at the same time learning more on a personal level for the ICT in their spare time in order to be able to cope with modern requirements, training in ICT by the staff of the school is very rare, the important role of training due to frequent engagement of teachers with the fields they have been trained on is highlighted, the most important positive contribution of the use of ICT is to strengthen students’ cooperation, while radical changes are needed in schools to fully exploit ICT in teaching and learning.
