Εναλλακτικές θεραπείες για την αντεμετώπιση χρόνιου πόνου σε ηλικιωμένους ασθενείς. (Bachelor thesis)
Pain is a common feeling that all people have felt in different periods of their lives. Among older people it is the most common symptom of their everyday life. Pain is an unpleasant experience of sensory nature, which exists in all people, and for this reason in recent years a particular effort has been made in dealing by modern medicine. In addition to the classic ways to treat and manage pain, medicine has made alternative methods, called alternative medicine. The purpose of this paper is to study and map out the treatment of pain through alternative ways of managing it in elderly people. The percentage of pain in the general population of people, whose age is estimated to be over 60 years old, recognizes an ascending course. Pain is a harmful problem for the elderly, who often follow other therapies. In order to deal with pain, treating physicians should take into account their particular needs and problems, following a different plan than pain healing techniques. Clearly, this requires specialization of the practitioner in alternative practices, as well as precise knowledge of the history of the specific needs of patients. Therefore, the current work deals with alternative ways of dealing with pain in the elderly, in order to address this unpleasant situation, using different ways than traditional ways.
