Nowadays, the concept of design is identical to the use of computers. But it has not always been like this. In the past, the design was made on a scale 1:1, which means that one centimeter in actual size was one centimeter in the design. As a result, a great amount of time, space and staff was needed to implement a project. Over time, the design was moved entirely in the computer environment, because of the development of computers. The basis of CAD programs (Computer Aided Design) is to create, edit and visualize a drawing on a computer screen. These programs provide the user with the possibility of high-precision, visualization, reproduction and direct modification of designs, as well as design in 2 or 3 dimensions. These systems were originally intended for the automotive, aerospace and aircraft companies. With the development of technology and the widespread use of computers, CAD systems have become more widespread. Engineers, architects, project managers, animation designers and students are some of those who use such design programs. Nowadays, CAD applications are used by all of the Automotive, Aviation and Space Aviation industries, such as Ford Company, Boeing and NASA, and also to construction industry with major architectural projects such as the Shanghai Tower. The purpose of this thesis is to study the AutoCAD and EPLAN software programs and to write manuals aiming at their use in the Technical Design Laboratory. To help students even more, we've created educational videos as well as detailed examples. Both AutoCAD and EPLAN are widely used in the labor market and are also used by large companies to design mechanical and electrical designs. There is also reference to other major programs, their advantages and an explanation about the selection of the two above.
