Επεμβάσεις στο μαστό και μητρικός θηλασμός - σύγχρονες οδηγίες (Bachelor thesis)

The following thesis consists of bibliography reviews in regards to interventions that may occur on the female breast and whether breastfeeding may or may not be practised. This thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 presents the anatomy of the female breast and the changes that occur to it throughout the woman’s life, especially during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Chapter 2 analyses the importance of breastfeeding, not only for the mother but also for the infant, its composition and its advantages, reference is also made as to the correct positions for successful breastfeeding, as well as its duration as is proposed by the International Health Organization. Chapter 3 presents the cosmetic surgeries that a woman may undergo as well as the possibility to breastfeed after such surgeries. Chapter 4 underlines the therapeutic surgery that occurs as a result of breast cancer or other benign illnesses of the breast. In this chapter it is discussed whether and to what extend breastfeeding may be practised after such surgeries. Chapter 5 refers to diagnostic methods a women may undergo to determine the most suitable therapy. These are the mammograph, ultrasound, magnetic tomography and biopsy as well as the cases which are connected with the breastfeeding period.
As a conclusion, in this thesis emphasis is given to the bibliography research on surgeries which allow or not breastfeeding afterwards. Furthermore there is reference to the results that may occur during breastfeeding and afterwards and ways that these may be treated.

| Abstract: | Η ακόλουθη πτυχιακή εργασία αποτελεί βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση όσον αφορά τις επεμβάσεις που μπορούν να πραγματοποιηθούν στο μαστό και τον μετέπειτα εφικτό ή ανέφικτο θηλασμό. Επίσης διακρίνεται σε πέντε βασικά κεφάλαια. Αρχικά στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο, παρουσιάζεται η ανατομία του μαστού και οι αλλαγές που συμβαίνουν σε αυτόν σε όλη τη ζωή των γυναικών και κυρίως κατά την κύηση και τη γαλουχία. Στη συνέχεια, στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο, αναλύεται η σημαντικότητα του μητρικού θηλασμού τόσο για τις μητέρες όσο και για τα νεογνά, η σύστασή του, η υπεροχή του, οι θέσεις- στάσεις για έναν επιτυχή θηλασμό, καθώς και προτεινόμενη διάρκειά του από τον Παγκόσμιο Οργανισμό Υγείας. Ακολούθως, στο τρίτο κεφάλαιο διατυπώνονται οι αισθητικές επεμβάσεις στις οποίες είναι δυνατό να υποβληθεί μια γυναίκα καθώς και οι δυνατότητα της μετά από αυτές να θηλάσει. Στο τέταρτο κεφάλαιο, υπογραμμίζονται οι θεραπευτικές επεμβάσεις που μπορούν να είναι αποτέλεσμα του καρκίνου του μαστού ή καλοηθών παθήσεων του μαστού. Επιπλέον, σε αυτό το κεφάλαιο, επισημαίνεται κατά πόσο είναι δυνατός ο θηλασμός μετά από τις επεμβάσεις αυτές. Κλείνοντας, στο τελευταίο κεφάλαιο αναφέρονται οι διαγνωστικές μέθοδοι, στις οποίες μπορεί να κληθεί μια γυναίκα να εξεταστεί προκειμένου να προσδιοριστεί η κατάλληλη θεραπεία, αυτές είναι η μαστογραφία, η μαγνητική τομογραφία, η υπερηχογραφία και η ιστοληψία, καθώς και η περίπτωση που σχετίζονται με την περίοδο της γαλουχίας.
Στο τέλος της εργασίας τονίζονται τα συμπεράσματα που προέκυψαν από τις βιβλιογραφικές αναζητήσεις και συγκεκριμένα ορίζονται οι επεμβάσεις μετά τις οποίες επιτρέπεται ο μητρικός θηλασμός, καθώς και όσες δεν είναι συμβατές με τη γαλουχία. Επιπλέον περιγράφονται οι κύριες επιπτώσεις που μπορούν να προκύψουν από αυτές κατά την περίοδο της γαλουχίας και ο τρόπος που μπορεί να αντιμετωπιστούν.
