This paper addresses the reasons and factors for which the Europeans prefer as a holiday country, Greece. Tourism is a human activity that flows from its natural and environmental needs of acquaintance, of history and culture. Tourism has developed into an economic activity because it offers services that the consumer requires. In particular the last thirty years this activity is growing extent in Europe. In order to understand more easily the reasons and factors that Europeans prefer Greece as a holiday country, this paper was divided into four chapters. More specifically: The first chapter includes the meaning of tourism and its historical background, the subjects of the tourism system and typology of tourists. The second chapter talks about the forms and the types of tourism and also to the positive and negative effects it has in economic, social and environmental level. The third chapter records the reasons, for which Greece holds such a high place in the preferences of European tourists for vacations, the tourist services that helps with the easy access and movement of tourists in our country and the tourist products offered to them. In the fourth and final chapter are the charts from the years 2010-2014, showing statistics of arrivals of incoming international flights to our country, the means of access of tourists by different transportation access, as well as statistics from the States with the greatest preference for Greece. Finally, it conducts the conclusions, which are a summary of all the foregoing.
