The purpose in this present undergraduate thesis constitutes the development of an application based on a device controlled by a microcontroller. More specifically, a control system is developed through which the user will be able to simulate the operation of a modern home alarm system. The special feature of this application is the connection of a microcontroller with a GPRS Module, which gives the opportunity to the user remotely, to have a complete update on the active status of the alarm. The ultimate aim of this diploma thesis is the construction of a prototype alarm and security system for demonstration, with potential use in small-sized interiors. Arduino Mega was used to implement the application, which is a computing platform based on a simple motherboard with built-in Atmel AVR microcontroller and inputs / outputs.
