The purpose of this dissertation is on one hand to present a different point of view of tourism, the special interest tourism, and on the other hand to discuss a very important part of it, namely Congress tourism. The differences amongst alternative, special interests and mass forms tourism, as well as the current trends will be analyzed and discussed. Furthermore, the distinctions and the genres of congresses and all the essential steps and equipment to organize a successful congress are described. Next will follow a reference on the problems that congress tourism has to confront in the Hellenic grounds. Additionally, the case of Evros country and Samothrace as a congress tourism destination will be analyzed, taking into consideration the attractions of the country, its cultural inheritance, the distinct nutrition that anyone visiting can enjoy in the area, the meeting venues of the country and many other features and the positives ways this can attract visitors and make someone choose the Evros and Samothrace as a congress destination. Finally, according to the results of researches and database tables it is proven that other cities arround world have tried practices as such and they gained financially and socially as well.
