Μπαδές, Πέτρος

Nowadays, cancer is one of the most common diseases that affect much of the population. Current therapeutic approaches, including surgical intervention, radiation and chemotherapy often lead to collateral complications, affecting the physical condition of patients, while limiting the ability of their personal independence and self-service. Frequent complications of treatment of cancer are the destruction of connective tissue, lymphoedema, a discount of cardiorespiratory function and musculoskeletal and neurological complications, which have a negative impact on patient quality of life. This leads to the need for a more specialized approach to manage these problems. The aim of physiotherapeutic rehabilitation of cancer patients, is to improve their quality of life through improving muscle strength, mobility and their functional independence. If necessary, it is important, as well, the social reintegration of the patient to the professional field, or even, change both the guidance and the various social activities, in order to complete restoration in operational capabilities.
