Κατά πόσο το άθλημα της αναρρίχησης επηρεάζει την σταθερότητα της Ποδοκνημικής άρθρωσης (Bachelor thesis)

Δαδακαρίδου, Δήμητρα

Rock Climbing involves both core and limb activity. It demonstrates fluent motor skills from vertical (usually) quadripedal position. During climbing, equilibrium is successful while the ankle supports and propulses its body loads. This study is to evaluate whether rock climbing influences ankle stability. A group of 10 healthy, recreational rock climbers was matched and compared with 9 subjects of general population. Active and Passive ROM from both ankles was evaluated. Balance was assessed with Static and Dynamic Stabilometry measures and through ‘‘Star Excursion Balance Test’’ scores. Results indicate an enhanced total balance skill among rock climbers. Rock climbers scored significantly better on ankle ROM and SEBT measures. Stabilometry’s results suggest rock climbers slightly maintain better balanced. Due to this unique lower limb function, rock climbing might favor ankle stability. Therefore, the effect of such an exercise model in ankle injuries rehabilitation, could be evaluated in future studies
