This project is negotiating the importance of carbohydrates in our diet. It is an essential matter of nutrition, as carbohydrates are among the basic ingredients (along with proteins and fats) that human body needs to work properly. In order to achieve proper analysis of this matter, we gathered information from books and scientific articles. An additional motivation was the fact that three experts from the field of nutrition and dietary offered their valuable help. The types of carbohydrates, the fact that they are a key component in a diet, the different types of diets that include them and diseases associated with them are discribed step by step. Finally, the sport sector and the combination diet based on carbohydrates is examined. The general results concern the significance of carbohydrates in humans, as a source of energy and they depict that there should be included with moderation in the daily diet.
