Aim: The evaluation of the knowledge level concerning type 2 diabetes mellitus (Τ2DΜ), the quality of life and nutrition of T2DM patients. Subjects/Methods: 120 patients took part in the survey (47 men and 73 women) with T2DM, aged 30-85 years old. The measurements took place at the diabetes center of the general hospital of Thessaloniki Papageorgiou during the year 2016. The level of knowledge was actualized to these patients, with a 24 questions questionnaire DKQ24, the level of life with the MA questionnaire and the level of nutrition with the HDI pointer, while anthropometric measurements were made and biochemical examinations were received. Results: After the statistical analysis of the data, the level of knowledge was found to be affected by the gender (men 52.0 ±0 16.4 DKQ% and women 44.3±17.3 DKQ%, p≤0.017), the incidence of diabetic ulcer (31.0±19.4 DKQ%, p≤0.009), previous Bypass operation (57.1±15.3 DKQ%, p≤0.031), glycemic control (44.8±16.7 DKQ%, p ≤0.039) and deficient control 51.5 (±17.7). Duration of the diagnosis was found to have a serious statistic effect to the knowledge level (p≤0.009). Eighty-nine patients lacked DM knowledge based on the DKQ (10.0±8.6 years of diagnosis), 29 marginally insufficient (13.9±8.2 years of diagnosis) and 2 patients sufficient (25.0±6.3 years). The cholesterol levels were found to be in a serious association (p≤0.040) with the knowledge, 89 of them had insufficient knowledge (164.6±27.9 mg/dl), 29 marginally sufficient (186.3±49.4 mg/dl) and 2 patients sufficient (157.0±0.0 mg/dl). Quality of life level was significantly different among smokers (0.3±1.6, p≤0.008), and in those with lower DM knowledge (p≤0.018). Conclusions: The results indicate that the majority of patients with DMT2 have inadequate DM knowledge, while concerning quality of life, most of them believe that it is either improved or not improved. Diet quality was not statically affected from other variables, with the 77 participants to following an ideal diet, against 43 who demonstrated a low quality of diet. We conclude that, as the evaluation of knowledge level, as the life and nutrition quality, is necessarily evaluated for the decrease of the prevalence of the diabetes mellitus type 2 in a global level
