The aim of this thesis is to present and point out the themed museums of Paris. The selection of this subject was based on the field of my studies, as well as on my 6-month traineeship in the city of light during which I had the opportunity to discover from a closer sight the diversity and the uniqueness of these museums. Visitors of Paris tend to overlook such museums mainly because of the tendency to prefer more famous museums such as Louvre or Orsay museum. Another reason for this habit is that the themed museums receive less publicity and one has to search for himself all the information about the existence and the function of these museums. Lastly some of these museums may apply to a limited audience for the reason that their exhibits are about specific interests. However, the importance of those museums is of great significant and their conflict with the most visited museums is not fair and lacks foundation. Whereas the general interest museums offer a wide diversity of subjects which may address to a wider audience, the themed museums provide the opportunity to someone, who may be interested in a certain subject such as counterfeit or pen manufactory, to expand his knowledge on the subject. In addition, some of these museums may be a pleasant surprise to the visitors who did not expect to come across such a different kind of exhibition. In any case, it is not in my intentions to underestimate the importance of the general interest museums, however, it utterly unfair to assume that the themed museums are of less significances. The following presentation of these museums is to highlight the unquestionable advantages of these museums.
