This paper examines a particular issue concerning the field of tourism. This issue is the city of Thessaloniki as a tourist destination and as a youth capital for the year 2014. The issue was assigned by the Prof.. Kourtesa Georgio and aims to host information, both generally in the tourism industry, and more specifically from the city of Thessaloniki, referring of course tourism. The issue is timely because it relates to the society and the economy and seeks to obtain information that is not so well known.
With a background in tourism, some general information are given in order to understand the way it works, its evolution and the image that has nowadays. Then, attention is given in the city of Thessaloniki, which gets a more comprehensive and methodical study. Thessaloniki was chosen as a case study because it is a big, important and very interesting city that gives the opportunity to study tourism with examples and evidence.
From the beginning of the work until the end, there is a certain flow, analysis and presentation of all the information, in order to answer all the questions and carry out useful conclusions.
