SUMMARY Background: Childhood diabetes mellitus is a challenge for children and their families. It has a physical and psychological effect on the whole family, leading parents to a constant sense of vigilance about their child's state of health Aim of the study: The purpose of this research is to evaluate the quality and self-esteem of parents of children with diabetes mellitus I and to investigate the factors that affect it. Material and Methods: The sample of this study will be parents of children with type I diabetes mellitus. Results: Parents of children with diabetes have a significantly worse quality of life than parents of children without diabetes in the quality of life related to physical health, social relationships and the quality of life of the environment. In addition, there was a significant difference in physical and mental health, social relations in terms of gender, marital status, living conditions and educational level of parents with a child with diabetes. There was no significant difference in self-esteem among parents with children with diabetes diabetes and parents with children without diabetes. Parents with children with ADs consider it more necessary to educate health professionals on issues related to diabetes compared to parents with children without diabetes mellitus.
