The subject of our thesis is the dangerous ingredients that can be found in the cosmetics and the imitation products that exist in the market over the last years. Initially, there is a general reference to the cosmetic products, to the ingredients that they are made of, and to the subcategories that they are divided according to their ingredients. Furthermore , there are mentioned in detail all the substances that are considered to be dangerous for the human body, allergenic and irritant. There are also mentioned researches that have been made in a global level, for the potential danger of these substances, studies and experiments that have been going through over scientists and organizations of several countries. Then, is being developed the issue of the non authentic cosmetic products, or the imitation products that have been increasingly developed and they are illegally sold through the internet and the cosmetic stores. There are mentioned the differences between the original and imitation products as well as the way to be recognized by The consumer in order to not proceed to their purchase. Moreover, the usual imitation substances contained in cosmetics are analyzed like arsenic, cadmium and lead. In the end, there is a research presented, which has been created for our thesis in the form of a questionnaire, in order to indicate how usual is the contact of the Greek consumer with the imitation products and if the have dangerous consequences to the human body
