Mankind had always had the need to look up to the sky and has been trying to
interpret things he could not comprehend. Observing the sky he has managed to deal
with his fears and to continue his life stronger than ever with the help of God. From
the beginning, human’s deep desire to honor a God, made him start traveling and
establish temples. Today, this desire of honoring a God has been transformed into
one of the most interesting tourism sectors, the religious one. Religious tourism,
undeniably, is a special form of tourism, which presents great potential for the future
tourism Market in Greece and especially in Thessaloniki. This city was the place that
Muslim, Jewish and Christian communities lived together and each of these religions
put its own mark on the city. This study examines the potential development of a
multi-religious tourism product, by focusing on monuments from these three
monotheistic religions in Thessaloniki. Finally, through the analysis and listing of
monuments, which are associated with Muslims, Jewish and Christians, are given
some recommendations about a sustainable strategic marketing plan development
and religious tourism product renewal
